How Long Does Forehead Filler Last? Cost, Reviews

Hyaluronic acid filler in the forehead often lasts roughly six months to a year, sometimes longer. How long it lasts for you depends on the product, the amount, how deep it sits and how your forehead moves.

How Long Does Forehead Filler Last? Cost, Reviews | Pascal

How long does forehead filler last, and will it last long enough to be worth a long-haul flight to Seoul? That's the real question if your last filler seemed to disappear within a few months.

Read this before you book a flight around it.

By the end, you'll know how long forehead filler usually lasts and why, which methods exist, what reviews get right and wrong, what decides the cost, and how the first two weeks of recovery fit into a trip. Then you can tell whether filler, your own fat or a different plan suits your forehead and your budget.

Hello, I'm Dr. Kang Kyoungjin, Representative Director of Pascal Clinic in Gangnam. I researched and taught anatomy at a university before I moved into plastic surgery.

At Pascal we offer both dermal fillers and facial fat grafting, and I developed the SAFI lifting fat-grafting technique. Our list prices are published on the site in Korean won, before 10% VAT.

I'm writing this because many people plan a trip around a single number from a forum, when the answer depends on the shape of their forehead and on what was injected.

Hyaluronic acid filler in the forehead often lasts roughly six months to a year, and some people keep a visible effect longer. Areas that move constantly, like the lips, tend to break filler down faster. The forehead usually sits somewhere in between.

If your last filler seemed to vanish quickly, send a front photo and a side photo of your forehead on WhatsApp, along with roughly when you had it. Then ask the one question that matters: is my forehead better suited to filler or to fat?

How long does forehead filler last in real life?

The range above is general medicine, not a promise. Most forehead filler is hyaluronic acid, a gel your body breaks down slowly. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons groups fillers by the material they're made from and describes hyaluronic acid fillers as temporary.

Five things move the number for you:

  • The product. Denser, more cross-linked gels usually hold their shape longer than soft ones made for fine lines.
  • The amount. A forehead with a deep dip above the brows needs more volume than one with a slight flatness. A thin layer fades from view sooner.
  • The depth. Filler placed in the layer just above the bone tends to stay where it was put. Filler placed close to the surface can show as ridges and may look uneven as it breaks down.
  • Movement. If you raise your eyebrows a lot when you talk, the muscle under the filler is working all day.
  • Your own metabolism. Some people simply clear hyaluronic acid faster.

There's one more reason filler can seem to disappear. In the first days your forehead is partly swollen. When that swelling settles, usually over about two weeks, the result shrinks back to the filler alone. Many people read that as the filler wearing off, when it's really the swelling leaving.

Why the forehead holds filler differently

The forehead is a thin layer of skin, fat and muscle lying over a curved bone. Under it run blood vessels that come up from above the eye sockets. So two things decide a forehead result: the shape of that bone and the layer the filler goes into.

Doctor's note

Good results start from an exact understanding of structure, not from feel. That was true when I taught anatomy, and it's how I think about a forehead now. I look at the curve of the frontal bone before I think about volume, because a forehead that is flat from the bone up needs a different plan from one where the soft tissue has thinned. Asking how long filler lasts makes sense only once you know which forehead you have.

This is also why one person's forum experience tells you little about yours. Two foreheads can look equally flat in a selfie and need different amounts in different layers.

Methods: hyaluronic acid filler, fat grafting, or a forehead lift

Hyaluronic acid filler is the most common choice. It's injected in a single short visit, the swelling is usually mild, and it gradually breaks down. Because it's hyaluronic acid, a doctor can usually dissolve it with an enzyme if the shape is wrong or a problem appears.

Facial fat grafting uses your own fat, taken by liposuction from another area and injected into the forehead. Part of the transferred fat is usually reabsorbed in the first months. The part that survives tends to stay much longer than filler. The trade-off is a procedure with a donor site, more swelling and more days to plan around.

A forehead lift (incisional brow lift) solves a different problem. It lifts drooping skin and muscle through an incision along the hairline or inside the scalp. It doesn't add volume, so it isn't a substitute for filler.

You can read what's involved on our dermal filler treatment page.

Can filler make my forehead smaller?

No. If you've been searching how to make my forehead smaller, filler is the wrong tool. It adds volume. It can turn a flat or dented forehead into a rounder one, but it doesn't reduce height or width, and too much can make a forehead look bigger.

A forehead that looks tall is mostly about where the hairline sits. Some clinics offer hairline-lowering surgery. It isn't on our menu. Sometimes what reads as a large forehead is really about proportion with the rest of the face. If wide cheekbones are part of what bothers you, our post on cheekbone reduction for a softer face covers that side of the balance.

What do the first two weeks look like on a trip?

In short, this is general guidance for hyaluronic acid filler. Your own plan is set at your consultation.

WhenWhat you'll usually noticeWhat to plan
Day of injectionRedness, small bumps at needle points, tendernessNo heavy makeup on the area that evening
Days one to threeSwelling at its peak, a bruise is possibleSleep face up, don't press or massage the area
Days four to sevenSwelling settles, bruises fade toward yellowNormal sightseeing is usually fine
Around two weeksShape close to settledGood time to judge if more is needed

For the first few days, the usual advice is to skip saunas, hot yoga, hard workouts and heavy drinking, because heat and blood flow can add to swelling and bruising.

Flying isn't generally considered a problem after filler. The real issue is distance. A flight home the same evening leaves no easy way back to the clinic if something unusual starts. Leaving a couple of days between the injection and your flight is a sensible margin.

Check the calendar too. We're open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 19:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 17:00, and closed on Sundays and public holidays. If you land on a Saturday evening, your first realistic appointment is Monday.

Say you have a flat forehead with a shallow dip above the brows, a previous filler that seemed gone after a few months, and five days in Seoul. I would lean toward a conservative amount placed deep, rather than filling to the full shape in one sitting. A touch-up at two weeks won't fit a five-day trip, so it's better to arrive home slightly under than to correct an overfill from abroad. If you want a longer-lasting change and can stay longer, fat becomes a fair conversation.

A surgical trip runs on a different scale. Our cheekbone reduction travel guide shows how much more time surgery needs. If you're pairing filler with another non-surgical treatment, such as Mira Dry for underarm sweating, ask how the days line up.

Send your flight dates with one side photo of your forehead in daylight, and ask whether those dates leave room for a check before you fly.

What do forehead filler reviews get right?

Forum threads tend to repeat the same claims about forehead filler. Here's how they compare with the medicine.

  • "It lasts for years." Partly true. Traces of hyaluronic acid can stay in tissue longer than you can see them. The visible effect is usually shorter, which is why how long forehead filler lasts on paper and in the mirror can differ.
  • "Forehead filler moves." Sometimes. Filler placed too close to the surface, or too much of it, can drift or look puffy. Deeper placement in the right amount reduces that risk but doesn't remove it.
  • "It barely hurts." Most people describe pressure and stinging rather than real pain, and numbing is commonly used. It still isn't nothing.
  • "It's safe because it isn't surgery." Not true. The forehead has vessels where filler can cause serious harm, as the risk section below explains.

What decides the cost of forehead filler?

There's no single price for a forehead, because no two need the same plan. These are the factors that move it:

  • How much volume you need. A slight flatness and a deep dent are different amounts of product.
  • The method. Filler is one short visit. Fat grafting adds liposuction, anesthesia and a longer stay.
  • Old filler. If earlier filler sits in the wrong place, dissolving it may come first.
  • Your days in Seoul. Extra nights matter if you want a check before flying.

Our list prices are published in Korean won, before 10% VAT. Final quotes follow your exam, because the right procedure and amount depend on your anatomy. To get the figure for your own forehead, message us on WhatsApp with clear front and side photos. A coordinator passes them to your surgeon and replies with options and the matching price-list lines.

Risks and side effects to know

Common and temporary. Swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising and small lumps at injection points. These usually settle within days to about two weeks.

Less common. Uneven shape, lumps that persist, filler that shifts, delayed swelling or nodules, and infection.

Rare but serious. Filler can enter or press on a blood vessel. The US Food and Drug Administration warns that this can block blood flow and lead to skin damage, vision problems or stroke. The forehead and the area between the brows carry these vessels, so I don't treat a forehead as a casual injection.

Who should wait or skip it, as general medicine: anyone with an active skin infection, acne flare or inflammation on the forehead; anyone who's had a laser or peel there recently; people who are pregnant or breastfeeding; anyone allergic to an ingredient in the filler or the numbing agent; and people taking blood thinners, who should discuss it first.

After you fly home. Sudden or growing pain, skin that turns white, gray or blotchy, or any change in vision needs emergency care the same day. Don't wait to send a message. Slower problems, like a lump that doesn't settle, are worth photographing and showing to a local doctor, and you can send us those photos too.

Surgery and injections carry risks such as bleeding, infection and inflammation, and your surgeon explains them before you decide. Your surgeon confirms suitability at an in-person exam. Individual results vary.

Before you plan the trip

The question isn't really how many months filler survives. It's whether your forehead's shape and your travel days point to filler, to fat, or to leaving it alone.

Send one front and one side photo of your forehead on WhatsApp with your travel dates, and ask whether a single visit makes sense for the shape you have. When you come to Pascal Clinic, a short walk from Sinsa Station Exit 8, I'll examine your forehead and recommend the option that fits it.

Frequently asked questions

When would I need a top-up after forehead filler?

It varies with the product, the amount and how fast your body clears hyaluronic acid. Many people consider a top-up somewhere between six months and a year. Judge the shape after the swelling has settled, not in the first week.

Can forehead filler be dissolved if I don't like it?

Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be broken down with an enzyme injected by a doctor. This is one reason it's often the first choice for the forehead. Fat grafting can't be reversed the same way.

Does fat grafting last longer than filler in the forehead?

The fat that survives transfer usually stays much longer than filler, but part of it is reabsorbed in the first months. It also involves liposuction from a donor area, more swelling and more days in Seoul.

Can I exercise or go to a sauna after forehead filler?

The usual advice is to avoid saunas, hot baths, hard workouts and heavy drinking for the first few days, because heat and increased blood flow can make swelling and bruising worse.

Is the first consultation free?

Yes, Pascal Clinic offers a consultation. You can start on WhatsApp with clear front and side photos of your forehead and your travel dates.

I went to get MiraDry treatment, and I liked that the building was huge and the nurses and receptionists were all friendly. Maybe because the director is so cheerful, they were joking around with each other, which created a great atmosphere that really helped ease my tension and made the procedure easier. I also liked that the director didn't seem authoritarian. Getting the anesthetic injection really, really hurts, but... once the anesthesia took effect, the procedure didn't hurt at all. It seems to take about 30 minutes for each side (left and right), and since the anesthesia takes about 10 or 15 minutes to activate, it's probably best to allow at least two hours for the visit. The procedure itself really didn't hurt, and I actually dozed off lol. It was great that the director kept checking to make sure I wasn't in pain throughout the session, and the nurses massaged my arms to make sure I was okay!
